2013 Yamaha FZ 6 R

2013 Yamaha FZ 6 R
Intro
The 2013 Yamaha FZ comes in three models: FZ 1, FZ 8, and FZ 6 R. The FZ 1 and FZ 8 models have standard body styles. The FZ R 6 has a sport body style. Each of these models were introduced at various times. Production of the FZ 1 began in 2001. The FZ 6 R was introduced in 2009. Yamaha introduced the FZ 8 in 2011. Having three separate models allows Yamaha to offer more variety to customers. The 2013 Yamaha FZ R 6, for instance, has a displacement of 600 cc while the FZ 8 offers 779 cc and the FZ 1 has 998 cc. Despite some differences in body style, seating, and performance, though, all of these models have a lot in common. The differences lie in the details. Of course, the FZ 1, as a larger vehicle, will appeal to those who prefer the rumble and power of a traditional motorcycle. Those who want a quick, stealthy feel can turn to the smaller models. Either way, the Yamaha FZ can meet the needs of most motorcycle riders who want to enjoy the open road with a reliable vehicle between their legs.

The Yamaha FZ 1, which is the largest and oldest of the current models, has been in production since 2001. The differences between the first generation (2001-2005) and second generation (2005-current) essentially created a new motorcycle. When designing the second generation FZ 1, Yamaha developed a new body style, front and back suspension, and even a new engine. The second generation had a 40 percent heavier crankshaft and an updated balance shaft that improved the motorcycle's performance.

Yamaha has also made several small changes to the FZ 1 since releasing the second generation. In 2006, the company began using a stiff rear spring and an updated throttling system that allowed the operator to control quick bursts of energy. In 2007, Yamaha decided to soften the rear spring, offering a more comfortable ride. It also updated the fuel injection system. Satisfied with these changes, Yamaha used the same basic design until 2010, when it improved the bike's throttle response in the mid-RPM range by updating its ECU mapping. In 2011, the company made further improvements focusing on throttle response at lower speeds. The vehicle remains largely unchanged between 2011 and 2013.

The FZ 1 has won numerous awards and reviews throughout its production. The introductory 2011 model received positive reviews from important critics at Motorcycle-USA.com and Motorcyclist Magazine. Motorcycle-USA.com also gave the second generation a good review in 2006. Cycle World gave the motorcycle a positive review that year, as well. Positive reviews continued in 2998 and 2009, when the FZ 1 was hailed by Motorcycle Thailand and Two Wheel Freaks, respectively. It even won second place in a list by Rider Magazine.

These recognitions show that past versions of the Yamaha FZ 1 and its related models offer power and aesthetics that impress critics who really know how to spot a good motorcycle. The 2013 FZ models continue this tradition with exceptional engineering and attractive designs. Whether riders prefer the feel of a standard bike or a sport bike design, they can engine exploring the roads on a 2013 Yamaha FZ knowing that the make has a history of reliability and good times.

2013 Yamaha FJR 1300A

2013 Yamaha FJR 1300A
Intro
The 2013 Yamaha FJR 1300A receives a welcome update that improves the design and performance. This sport-touring bike is designed to give the rider as much comfort and amenities as possible while improving distance capabilities, performance, and reliability. The FJR 1300A is powered by a liquid-cooled, four-cylinder, 1298cc engine with a five-speed transmission and a wet, hydraulic clutch. It also has a dual overhead camshaft valve train, is fueled by an electronic fuel injection system, and has a wide bore of 79 mm and a short stroke of 66.2 mm. This gives the bike 101.8 lb-ft of torque at 7000 rpm and 144.1 hp at 8000 rpm. The new engine offers reduced friction, improved heat dissipation, lighter weight, and better performance with a three-horsepower and three lb-ft of torque gain. The bike has decent handling due to its suspension design and big power output, which are both helpful since it is a bit heavy, weighing in at 644 pounds. The dual front discs are very powerful and have an antilock braking system that functions during all weather and road conditions.

The hard-locking, weather proof side bags are capable of holding a helmet in each, lock with the ignition key, and are removable by hand if need be. The rider’s seat can be adjusted to one of two positions and the handlebars can be set in one of three positions, giving six different combinations to maximize comfort. The electronic adjustable windshield can be height adjusted at the touch of a button to reduce wind resistance on the face or keep the body dry during a sudden down pour. The FJR comes with 17-inch, tubeless, aluminum wheels and dual hydraulic disc brakes.

The biggest change for 2013 is the new Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle (YCC-T). The YCC-T incorporates a motor and throttle position sensor to meter out fuel delivery. The YCC-T also allows for cruise control, traction control, and the ability to switch between two settings: Sport and Touring. The Touring engine map particularly offers a smooth ride and good handling.

2013 Zero DS ZF8.5

2013 Zero DS ZF8.5
2013 Zero DS ZF8.5
Intro
Zero Motorcycles broke new ground in the industry when it introduced the Zero DS in 2010. The dual-sport bike has an electric engine powered by a battery that does not contain toxic chemicals, making it appealing to eco-friendly riders as well as bikers who want something fun to tool around town on. It is better suited to bikers who don‘t ride long distances or at high speeds.

Available in red, white, or blue, the 2010 DS weighs 277 pounds, including the 95-pound battery pack. Street-legal, the electric motorcycle has on/off road knobby tires, 17 inches in front and 16 inches on the rear. It is powered by a lithium-ion manganese battery (Li-ion) that was designed and made at the California company’s plant. The battery does not contain toxic materials, which means it can be disposed of in local landfills.

The 18-pound perimeter frame is aluminum; the body is plastic. The vinyl one-piece seat is 35 inches high. It has a unique square-tube kickstand. Though it is an electric bike, Zero uses a fuel gauge meant for a gasoline engine since a gas pump shows how much charge is left. A green shift light indicates the battery is charged.

The Agni motor runs so quietly, new-to-DS riders may think the engine died at stops and inadvertently rev it up in place, thus thrusting the motorcycle ahead.

This is a one-person bike as there are no passenger pegs. Specifications say it can carry weight up to 297 pounds, but users say this cuts down on the motorcycle’s performance.

The DS gets good marks from users, who say it is an easy bike to ride and care for as long as the rider knows its limitations. The DS is designed for mainly street riding but is capable of handling easy off-road trails. It has a maximum speed of 71 mph; the ideal speed is 40 mph. Under optimum conditions, a rider can get about 49 miles on a single battery charge. The distance goes down as speed and the rider’s weight go up; i.e., freeway riders may only be able to ride for 25 minutes. Wind speed also is needs to be considered. It is a good commuter bike for round trips of 30 miles or less. If the rider is able to recharge the battery at work either on a 110- or 220-volt outlet, then this distance could be increased.

Front suspension is inverted fork; rear suspension is a twin-sided swing arm. The handlebars are not adjustable.

Battery life is estimated at four to six years. The battery can be recharged 1,000 times. A complete recharge takes about four hours. Otherwise, maintenance is minimal, as the motor is estimated to last as long as 10 years.

New For 2013
Zero replaced the S model’s rims with bigger 17-inch front and 16-inch rear rims to make the DS model. The DS also features new tires (on/off-road knobbies) and slightly different exterior styling.

2013 Kawasaki KLR 650

2013 Kawasaki KLR 650
2013 Kawasaki KLR 650
Intro
For most of the last decade, the Kawasaki KLR 650 has sat atop the industry sales charts in the dual-sport category, and there is reason why. It has been carefully designed to be the adventurer’s tool of choice, delivering fuel efficiency, cargo-carrying capabilities, and effective wind protection, so that adventurous riders need only pick their course and hit the road - or dirt.

The KLR 650 offers all of the comfort and agility as other bikes but with a higher level of comfort without compromising all the fun. This bike takes all of the best elements of Jekyll and Hyde: it’s comfortable and smooth around town, but on the dirt and muddy terrain, the grit comes out and it handles itself fairly well. And speaking of comfort, with a long-range fuel capacity translating into a long day in the saddle, good wind protection is a must. This is handled by the frame-mounted bodywork, which includes a tall windscreen and large shrouds. Rider comfort is enhanced further by the seat design and plush urethane foam. A high-capacity 36-watt alternator pumps out enough juice for a high-output headlight and has the extra capacity to power the add-on electronic gadgets that no touring rider can live without.

Alpina XD3 Biturbo review

The shape of the Alpina XD3 Biturbo may be familiar, but this BMW X3-based model is the first SUV in Alpina’s history. That in itself is significant enough, but the fact that the XD3 is also the fastest-accelerating diesel-engined SUV you can buy makes it something of a landmark vehicle.
The stats are deeply impressive. In Alpina spec, BMW’s already stonking twin-turbo 3.0-litre diesel gets a 36bhp power boost to 345bhp and an extra 52lb ft of torque at 516lb ft, largely thanks to optimised air intake and exhaust flows. That’s enough to propel the 1910kg XD3 from 0-62mph in an eye-watering 4.9sec – a level of acceleration that you’d need a Porsche Cayenne Turbo to beat.
The XD3’s performance is every bit as urgent as those figures suggest. Mated to a recalibrated ZF eight-speed automatic transmission, the uprated engine revs relatively enthusiastically for a big diesel and produces an encouragingly throaty growl in the upper half of its rev range, but it’s the relentless torque that dominates the way the XD3 goes down the road. In short, it goes like stink. There’s a small penalty to pay in terms of fuel economy and emissions compared with the standard X3 xDrive35d, but the XD3’s 41.5mpg combined and 180g/km of CO2 remain on a par with the class best, notably the 309bhp bi-turbo Audi SQ5.
As always, it’s the work Alpina has done on the chassis side that is the key difference between one of its products and the BMW equivalent, but in this case the incremental gains seem greater than on recent 3-series or5-series-based offerings and make the XD3 feel genuinely sporting by SUV standards.
With a standard spec that includes electronically controlled adaptive dampers, four-mode Drive Performance Control and a variable-ratio sports steering rack, the XD3’s suspension tune has been judged to perfection: firm, but not too firm. Handling is agile and sweetly balanced and body control is exemplary, yet there’s still some compliance in the ride at low speeds, in Comfort mode at least. Sport mode can get a bit jiggly on UK roads, but overall the XD3 rides better than the Cayenne, for example.
None of the Alpina tweaks detract from the fundamental usability and practicality of the X3, either. The cabin is roomy and comfortable, the load bay is huge and the already high-quality materials are taken up another notch with Alpina’s remodelling, which on the XD3 includes optional Alcantara trim with contrasting stitching for the doors, fascia and entire top of the centre console. Alpina’s trademark shift buttons on the back of the steering wheel are less satisfying to operate than paddles, though.
Given the high standard set by BMW in the first place, especially on the 3-series, it’s sometimes hard to see where Alpina can make much of a difference, but in this case they’ve excelled themselves. The XD3 feels like a significant step forward compared with the standard X3, making it one of the most exciting, most complete SUVs on the market.

Alpina B3 Biturbo review

The Alpina B3 isn’t an M-car. Yes, it’s a powerful new BMW 3-series, yes, it’s exclusive, yes, it’s fast and yes, it’s on the reassuringly expensive side. But if you know Alpina, you’ll know it does things differently.

Within the automotive world, the relationship between Alpina and BMW is a rare and precious one. BMW, global player though it is, doesn’t just tolerate the independent company Alpina – registered as a manufacturer in its own right 30 years ago – but genuinely enjoys its relationship with it, to the extent that a high-performance Alpina will usually arrive long before an M division version of the same model.

Prefer traditional Alpina blue or green paint? We like ‘em both, but they’re a pricey option.

This time, the engine modifications run quite deep; BMW doesn’t offer such a twin-turbocharged six at the moment. It takes the number of Alpina models currently offered to an impressive seven, adding up to a total volume of around 2000 units a year, and they can be serviced at any BMW dealer.

Such is the case here with the B3 Biturbo, a 404bhp variant of the latest F30/F31 3-series in the finest Alpina form: with a twin-turbo straight six engine, automatic gearbox and subtle modifications to chassis and design.

Alpina has been fettling the BMW 3-series for almost as long as there has been one to fettle. The earliest cars, based on the original E21 and badged A1/3, were delivered to Buchloe for tuning post-build.

By 1978, the firm was introducing models developed and partially built in-house, including the legendary six-cylinder B6 2.8 — a car that actually pre-dated BMW’s own M20-powered 3-series. By 2007, and the introduction of the 3.0-litre B3 Biturbo, Alpina had sold nearly 6000 examples of its successors.

Alpina's unusual relationship with BMW generally produces some intriguing and, by and large, thoroughly alluring products.

Let’s see if it’s the same this time.

Alpina B3 2007-2013 review

The Alpina B3 S Biturbo is the marque's take on the 335i. The renowned BMW fettlers have tuned the B3 S’s 3.0-litre, twin-turbocharged six-cylinder engine to produce 395bhp, almost 90bhp more than the current 335i, and 398lb ft of torque, a rise of more than 100lb ft. That means that even in convertible form, as driven here and which is some 200kg heavier than the saloon, the B3 S will hit 62mph in 4.9sec and go on to an unrestricted 185mph.

However, comparisons will doubtless be drawn with the M3 as often as with the 335i, and it’s worth noting that while the B3 S is two cylinders and 25bhp down on the V8-engined BMW, it delivers a remarkable 103lb ft more torque – and it isn’t restricted by a speed limiter.

The Alpina B3 S is faster than any current production BMW
Chassis-wise the B3 is way softer than the M3’s, and that’s an entirely deliberate decision on Alpina’s behalf. Apart from Alpina’s own, lighter 19-inch wheels and bespoke Michelin Pilot Sport tyres (235/35 at the front, 265/30 at the rear), the B3 is virtually identical to a 335i Sport in set-up, and is none the worse for that. Notably, the lack of runflats do give the B3 S’s ride a suppleness and civility that’s pretty much unmatched by any 3-series, without any major sacrifice in body control.

The only obvious omission is the absence of any form of limited slip diff from the B3’s spec sheet. The B3’s open item makes for poorer traction on less than perfect surfaces, and rules out the 200-yard power slides you will be able to pull off in the M3 with it’s awesome M-diff. Which, you could argue, is a pity, but it’s perhaps also a good indicator of the greater maturity of the B3’s typical driver.

On the road the B3 feels monumentally quick, even down the shortest straights. And the auto gearbox works perfectly in conjunction with the engine, blipping downshifts smoothly and with just the right number of revs when you shift manually, and picking off gears with similar speed and dexterity on the way up.

If you want to go slowly in it, you can, and the engine and automatic gearbox combo works beautifully in laid-back mode. But the moment you want to summon end-of-the-universe acceleration, all you do is flatten the throttle and go, cheeks all-of-aflap like a proper time traveller.

Criticisms? At nine tenths and above the B3 can feel a tiny bit soft, and vertical surface undulations can cause it to float a little. But the number of occasions on which you are likely to drive your B3 hard enough on a UK road to uncover this minor flaw would be limited in the extreme, and you’d probably lose your licence long before losing your patience with the car’s suspension. We’d also like the option of a manual, and we wish the steering was a little lighter at low speeds for urban use.

And in drop-top form as tested it’s not a light car – but then neither is a regular 3-series convertible.

We’d be very tempted by a B3 S Biturbo, although we’d probably look at the saloon, coupé or estate before we’d buy the heavier drop-top.

If you really must have the ‘ultimate’ 3-series then you’ll probably still buy an M3. But anyone who hankers after the old six-cylinder E46 version’s six-cylinder rasp – and there are plenty of you out there, we know – should give the B3 S a long, hard look.

Porsche 911 Turbo cabriolet first drive review

What is it?

The new cabriolet version of the latest 991 Turbo, and as such it won't be regarded as the purest of 911s by those who profess to "know" their 911s. And to the average Turbo cabrio driver, this won't matter not one iota.

To Porsche, though, everything matters, which is why for the last two generations of 911 - second generation 997 and latest 991 - Weissach's engineers have focused hard on trying to make the open-top model as crisp and precise to drive as the coupé. And never before have they got closer to achieving that goal than with this latest Turbo cabrio.

Mind you, such proximity to perfection does come at a price. In basic form, without any options in place, the Turbo cabrio costs an eye watering £129,223. And as tested - with the must-have Sports Chrono Package installed (we'll come to why in a second) plus a couple of other choice extras - the price gets closer to the £140,000 mark.

What is it like?

Dynamically at least, one of the best resolved, and fastest, open-top supersports cars that money can buy. Power from the turbocharged flat six is a rousing 513bhp with torque oscillating between 486-523lb ft depending whether the over-booster is blowing at full steam or not.

Either way, it's enough to send the 1595kg Turbo cabrio to 62mph in 3.4sec and to a top speed of 195mph. Senior levels of performance, in other words, which put the Turbo cabrio on all but equal footing with the coupé in a straight line. And remember, Porsche's excellent dual clutch PDK auto gearbox comes as standard on all Turbos nowadays, so shifting gear has never been faster or more efficient in a Turbo cabrio.

So why is the Sports Chrono Pack such a key element when it costs a further £3092? Because it brings with it Porsche's new "dynamic engine mounts" which help reduce inertia over the rear axle when cornering. In layman's terms, they tighten up the ride and handling a treat and, according to Porsche's own engineers, work especially well in the Turbo cabrio model. You could argue that these engine mounts should be a standard fitment if they really make that much of a difference, but that's another argument altogether, one that Weissach's marketing people will win over their colleagues in engineering 10 times out of 10.

Elsewhere, the Turbo cabrio is predictably impressive. Apart from a slight judder at low speeds over rough roads, it drives pretty much as well as the coupé. And the lack of wind buffeting inside the cabin with the electric buffer raised is also deeply impressive. As is the look of the car with the hood up.

Should I buy one?

Why not, as they say, and if you can afford a Turbo cabrio, you'd be mad not to cough the extra required for the Sports Chrono Pack, especially when the 0-62mph time also drops to 3.2sec thanks to the addition of launch control.

Even the purists might approve of this particular version of Turbo cabrio, so much sharper and better to drive is it than its numerous predecessors. Then again, they might not. And, as ever, the car's owners won't care less, one way or the other.

New Chevrolet Volt points to next Vauxhall Ampera

The second-generation Chevrolet Volt has been spotted testing for the first time in the US.

This heavily camouflaged test mule is our first look at the new model, which reports suggest will go on sale in two years' time with production getting under way at GM's Detroit-Hamtramck assembly plant next summer.

A second-generation Vauxhall Ampera could be spawned from the new car, as well as a new Cadillac ELR, but with the current Ampera only three years old a Vauxhall spokesman told Autocar the brand is "fully committed to the Ampera in its current guise" in the UK.

However, rumours persist that the new Volt's drivetrain could be used by Opel in a more European-friendly car. Opel has reportedly told its German dealers the new model will arrive in either in 2016 or 2017 and will be smaller and more affordable than the current Ampera, and is currently code-named 'BEV'.

Likely to sit on the same platform as the next-generation Chevrolet Cruze, the new Volt features different styling to the current car, adopting a less box-like design at the rear with new tail-light clusters and a more rounded rear bumper. At the front, a new grille features on the redesigned front bumper, which also includes new lower air intakes and vertical LED DRL units. Swept-back headlight clusters can also be seen, alongside new wing mirrors and a steeper windscreen.

The current Volt can manage up to 40 miles running on electric power alone, before its 150bhp 1.4-litre petrol engine starts up to act as a generator. A similar powertrain is likely to feature on the new car.

Previous reports have also suggested GM is working on an entry-level version of the Volt to sit alongside the standard car. The model, priced at around $30,000 in the US (about £17,850), would have a driving range of around 380 miles. At that price, the entry-level Volt would significantly under-cut rivals, including the Toyota Prius plug-in and Honda Accordplug-in hybrids.

GM hopes the new Volt will help to revitalise hybrid sales in the US. Sales of the Volt dropped by two per cent in the US last year to 23,094, despite continued discounts offered by dealers. In the final three months of the year, the car's sales dropped by 15 per cent to just 3,606 units.

General Motors recently announced it would be investing over £267 million across two facilities to boost the production of battery-powered cars. Over £228 million of that will be allocated to the Hamtramck plant, with an extra £38 million sent to its Brownstown battery factory.

2014 Yamaha R15 Version 3

We did get to see a special edition version the upcoming Yamaha R15 at the 2014 Auto Expo held in Greater Noida. However, Yamaha was tight-lipped about the specific changes that the bike would undergo as part of this latest iteration. Just a month before its launch, official images of the R15 along with some of the most important details regarding modifications to the body and graphics and changes in the engine and fuel injections systems have been leaked. Another development that will make those that had the bike on their wish list heave a sigh of release is that the pricing will not shoot up with Version 3 of the R15, and should stay around the 1.12 lakh INR (ex-Delhi) that the current model retails at.

2014 Yamaha R15 Version 3

Exterior

So getting down to the specifics. The unit that was on display at the Auto Expo was a special edition which wore a two-tone black and gold paint scheme. It has been revealed that the bike will also come in a grey hue, with the fairing in a lighter shade. Yamaha may also give the option of putting snappier graphics on the body of the bike. Surprisingly, there is very little else to talk about as far as the exteriors go. Yamaha has certainly played it safe on the looks of the 2014 R15.
2014 Yamaha R15 Version 3

Performance

Changes below skin level are more significant. So much so that the fuel injection system has received an overhaul and the ECU has been upgraded as well. As a result of these changes, the 2014 R15 boasts a power output of 18PS, a whole 1PS more than what the current R15 version is capable of. While the torque in the mid range has been tweaked to offer better performance, the gross peak output remains unchanged at 15Nm. These changes may make the bike slightly better to ride in urban conditions.

Hyosung GV 250

Hyosung GV 250
The cheapest cruiser in the Indian bike market is the Bajaj Avenger followed by the Royal Enfield, making it a highly lucrative section due to lack of players in the field. With the recent crop of 250 cc bikes but all being in the sports bike territory, Hyosung motors and DSK decide to bring a budget cruiser the Hyosung GV250 into the market. Priced between Rs 2.5-3 lakhs it will crucially fill that space and get the first mover advantage. The quarter liter cruiser will be locally assembled to keep prices low. It’s main rival will be the upcoming Harley Davidson Street 500, made specially for the emerging markets, but there is no finalized release date for it yet. Hyosung is still yet to cut into the segment when the numbers come to play due to the patchy sales of the GT 650 and 250R sports bikes, but with the release of the GV250 they aim to change that. The GV 250 is a purely made for cruising and based on a sudden affection for cruisers all over India we feel that the GV250 will be a fruitful venture.

Yamaha R 25

Yamaha R 25
The R 15 ushered in track technology to the streets of India with its MotoGP deltabox frame and liquid cooling. It gave other bikes nightmares with its track-honed handling and astonishing performance. But then instead of capitalizing on the situation, the Japanese giant went to sleep. However in the latest development, Indonesian media informs that Yamaha Indonesia is definitely developing a quarter-litre sportsbike based on the free-revving R 125. There is a great probability of it making to India, especially after the way the R 15 changed the face of performance biking in India. The R 25 is expected to do the same. As of now, there is no clear picture on the exact launch dates or pricing, but it is expected to make way towards the end of this year or early 2014

CBR 300 R

CBR 300 R
The 250R was the first bike to take on the Yamaha R15. It wasn’t a track friendly bike, but more of a cruiser with an able torquey engine. Now with coming of the Duke brigand and the new Ninja 300, the 250R is a bit of old news now. Finally Honda is releasing the successor, the CB 300R. The 300R will most probably producedin Honda’s Thailand production facility from where it will be shipped to various markets around the world. While the 250R borrowed it’s styling cues from the touring VFR family, the 300R shares the design philosophy of the iconic Fireblade with twin sharply styled headlights and the other body panels mirroring the latest CB 1000RR. Fingers crossed that it will also perform on the track like its litre class sibling. The new CBR300R will house a 286cc, four-stroke, single-cylinder liquid-cooled fuel-injected engine which generates a maximum power of 30.4bhp at 8500rpm and peak torque of 2.75kgm at 7250rpm. For braking Honda have equipped the CBR300R with a single 296mm disc upfront while a 220mm unit does duty at the rear with ABS as optional. Expect the CBR300R to come to Indian showroom by 2014, taking on it’s arch rival, Kawasaki’s twin-cylinder Ninja 300R.

Bajaj Pulsar 375

Even with the economic crisis and the rising fuel prices, the Indian motorcycle industry is still unfazed with manufacturers rolling out new leaner and more powerful machines. With the launch of the Duke 200 and the new 390, the entry-level performance bike segment is blown wide open. Yamaha started it all with the dynamically perfect R15, but failed to capitalize on it. Now, with all the manufacturers scrambling to create their own pocket rockets, the Indian budget performance bike segment will be an interesting battle. Here we bring you the upcoming 10 new bike launches in 2014 that will be the ones to watch out for in the coming months:

Bajaj Pulsar 375
With the launch of the 200 NS a cheaper version of the Duke 200, everyone is waiting with bated breath for the Pulsar model based on the Duke 390, christened the Pulsar 375. With the 390 launched at a price of just above Rs 2 lakhs, the 375 will be even more cheaper making it one of the best affordable performance machines in the country. It will have a full fairing unlike the 390 and will share some of its technologies like liquid cooling and a close-ratio gearbox. The bike will be powered by a mill close-to 375 cc which it will share with Duke 390. A power figure of 40-42 bhp is a good approximation. In short the Pulsar 375 threatens to redefine biking on Indian streets, as the original Pulsar did a decade ago.

best Android tablets in the world

If you’re looking for a tablet and don’t fancy an iPad, then Android is currently the way to go. (Don’t know what an Android tablet is? Check out the collection

There are other options out there; Windows 7 tablets are available, the BlackBerry PlayBook is on sale now and the HP TouchPad has come and gone in a flurry of £99 panic-buying. But Android 3.2 is currently the main OS rival to the iPad, and the products are still creeping onto the shelves one by one.

We’ve recently seen the launch of Nvidia’s next-generation Tegra 3 chip which is destined to power 2012′s quad-core Android tablets to new heights. The likes of the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime are already beckoning in the new era, and with next year’s full-on release of Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), the iPad might soon be feeling the heat.

Fitness Watches

Fitness Watches

We’ve said it before, but digital watches don’t make it to the pages of worn&wound very often. And lets be honest, its because a lot of digital watches are, well, ugly. But in certain circumstances, like when you’re working out, looks don’t matter. Sometimes, you really just need a tool to get the job done. And when that’s the case, we say you might as well do it for cheap. So in that spirit, here are a few options for fitness watches under $100.

The Timex Ironman 100-Lap Flix Digital Watch has just about everything you’ll need for managing your running workouts. It has a chronograph function with super high capacity for recording laps (100, duh), an automated interval repetition counter, programmable alarms and a lot more. One really neat feature of the Ironman is its ability to exclude rest times from the timing of your runs. This way, when the workout is done, you can get an accurate reading of your total runtime without having to do any math. Also, for those of you who do your running at dusk, or who maybe like to run all night super marathons, the Ironman Flix has the convenient feature of activating the INDIGLO light with a flick of your wrist. Best of all, this full-featured watch is priced at just $47.

Citizen Watch

Citizen Watch

Citizen is a brand that needs little introduction. They have been around for almost a century, they are one of the largest watch brands currently in business, they are available at almost every major department store and certainly most mainstream watch stores and they are considered to be very well made. Yet, despite their reach and popularity, we haven’t reviewed or featured a single citizen watch on worn&wound yet. Well…that’s sort of a lie, because every time we discuss a watch that is powered by a Miyota movement, whether it is a Maratac pilotor a Lüm-Tec Combat B16, we are in fact indirectly talking about Citizen as they own Miyota, but we have not directly discussed a Citizen branded watch. This is for a simple albeit subjective reason, most of them just don’t interest us. Style isn’t exactly Citizen’s strong suit (I hope I don’t make too many enemies by saying that) and for the price there are generally sexier options out there. Of course, there is an exception to every rule and in the case of Citizen the exception is the Nighthawk
